An exhibition of sports photos from the newspaper's image collection The Team was inaugurated this Thursday morning at the Maison de la radio in Paris. Dubbed “La Trance qui Winner”, this exhibition was created under the direction of L'Équipe's photo editor, François Gille, who selected 200 photos from the newspaper's approximately 12 million images. “This photographic heritage is undoubtedly unique in the world for a press title. It's a century of sports and Olympism photos »emphasizes François Gille.
The name of the exhibition was inspired by the title of a famous cover of The Teamthat of August 8, 2021. “It has become a collector's item, with the Olympic title for handball players and volleyball players. For the first time, the front page of The Team was in blue and "L'Équipe" became "Les Équipes" »recalled François Gille during the opening of the exhibition, co-produced with France Info, as part of the Demain le sport festival.
"The Trance that wins" is indeed not just a best of the most beautiful images of national joys, like that of Mbappé kissing the World Cup trophy, after the 2018 victory against Croatia (4-2) . It also shows emblematic athletes (Michael Phelps, Roger Federer...), and tells how The Team highlights its photos thanks to its striking front pages.
" The Trance that wins" will be held until 6 November, on the ground floor of the Maison de la radio (116 avenue du president Kennedy, in Paris).
