The Turinese Luigi Piccatto, historic cartoonist of Dylan Dog, has died
TURIN. Luigi Piccatto, the cartoonist famous above all for his work in the Dylan Dog team, died at the age of 68 in Castagnole Lanze, the town in the province of Asti where he had lived for some time. He was born in Turin on July 13, 1954.
The carreer
His career had begun in the late seventies, when, interrupting his medical studies to devote himself full-time to comics, he made his debut on Corrier Boy with the Chris Lean series. Later he worked for Skorpio and Lanciostory and for the magazine Jeans adventures of Edifumetto; in 1986, he landed at Sergio Bonelli Editore. From that moment his work on Dylan Dog began: he made his debut with the ‘Return of the monster’, the register number 8 of the series, and in his career he signed 47 dedicated to the Investigator of the Nightmare. The condolences of all
Among the messages of condolence also that of Monferrato Rugby, for which Piccatto was president of the over 35 team: «He passed the ball last night fighting as only he knew how to do. Former president of Thaka’Tani (the name of the amateur sports team, ed), he leaves an immense void in all of us ». The famous cartoonist worked in his studio in Asti, in via Massimo D’Azeglio, in the city centre. He trained an entire generation of cartoonists, including Andrea Broccardo from Asti, now Marvel author, and the “Diabolike” Giulia Francesca Massaglia and Stefania Caretta. He leaves behind his wife and three children, his sister Gabriella, a painter from Castagnole Lanze.
