The counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army is going hard, the Ukrainians faced a number of serious problems during the fighting, including well-prepared defensive positions of the Russian Armed Forces. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on CNN.
“At the moment, the counter-offensive is at a relatively early stage. It is heavy,” said Blinken (quoted by T).
The head of the State Department added that the counter-offensive of Ukraine, as the United States expects, will last at least several months.
On June 20, Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh said that the US was initially aware that the UAF counteroffensive would be heavy and that UAF losses were only part of the conflict.
Earlier, on July 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, said that Ukraine’s counteroffensive had failed. Putin noted that over the past 24 hours, a record number of equipment that foreign states supplied to Ukraine was destroyed in the special operation zone. According to Lukashenka, more than 15 Leopard tanks and over 20 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed in one battle.
According to Lukashenka, who referred to US data, Ukraine has lost 26,000 troops since the start of the counteroffensive.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine began active offensive operations on June 4. On June 9, Putin said that the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had definitely begun, but the Ukrainian army was not able to achieve its goals in any sector. On June 16, during the plenary session of the SPIEF, he said that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are 10 times higher than the Russian ones.
