Tiago Djalo (Lille) victim of a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of the right knee

The Lille staff feared the worst, this Monday morning, and their fears were well founded: the examinations taken by Tiago Djalo confirmed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee. The Portuguese defender’s season, which will undergo surgery soon, is already over.

He joins Ismaily and Diakité in the infirmary

The former Milanese (22, under contract until 2024) was injured at the very start derby at Bollaert, Saturday (1-1), trying to tackle to prevent an artesian cross. It’s a huge blow for LOSC, since Djalo was simply the central defender most used by Paulo Fonseca. He had so far 24 starts in Ligue 1, and he was in recent months the only irremovable hinge, where even captain José Fonte had briefly lost his place in January.

This absence is all the more problematic as it is added to two other injuries in the defensive sector: the Ismaily side, hit in the thigh in Rennes, at the beginning of February (3-1) and still absent for a long time, and Bafodé Diakité, hit in the left hamstring against Brest ten days ago and whose unavailability was estimated by the club at four weeks.
