Former President Donald Trump referred to the conflict between Governor Ron DeSantis – his potential rival in the 2024 presidential election – and the entertainment company Walt Disney Co. According to Trump, the giant’s next move could be to sell off real estate in Florida and siphon money out of the state, which will be what he described as a financial “killer” for DeSantis.
The former president still does not hide his antipathy to the governor of Florida. Trump said that the Magic Kingdom was winning the war with DeSantis, and the Sunny State’s PR strategy was wobbly. According to the politician, Disney’s next step will be to sell real estate located in Florida, and then withdraw money from the state, impatient with the issue of control over the Reedy Creek Improvement District – an independent local government district, so far managed by a corporation.
Recently, DeSantis’s feud with Disney has jumped to another rung on the escalation ladder, as the governor has threatened to build a prison next to an amut park in revenge for trying to take away his power over the land where the Magic Kingdom sits.
“DeSanctus is absolutely being destroyed by Disney,” Donald Trump tweeted on Truth Social, coining another nickname for DeSanctus, this time shorter than “DeSanctimonious.”
“Disney’s next move will be to announce that no more money will be invested in Florida because of the governor. In fact, they could even announce a slow pullback or sale of some ets, or even all of them. Attention!!! That would be a killer,” the former president added.
It is worth noting where – apart from Trump’s dislike of DeSantis – his bias towards Disney may come from. According to Open Secrets – Walt Disney Co. donated a staggering $10.5 million to Trump’s “America First” campaign in 2020.
