two-match suspension for Di Maria for his nudge

For nudging a Monza player this weekend, Di Maria is suspended for Juventus' next two games.

Juventus new signing Angel Di Maria has been handed a two-match ban for nudging an opposing player during the humiliating defeat (1-0) on Sunday at the promoted Monza, Serie A announced on Tuesday.

Argentinian winger Di Maria was sent off five minutes before half-time for a violent clash with Monza defender Armando Izzo, when the two teams were tied. Eventually Juve, with a heavily overhauled XI, bowed out and handed Silvio Berlusconi's team the very first victory in the Italian first division.

He then blamed himself for being responsible for the first defeat of the season in the league for Juve, now eighth in the standings seven points behind leaders Naples. The 34-year-old will miss Bologna's reception and Juve's trip to San Siro for the clash against AC Milan to resume Serie A after the international break.

Serie A, on the other hand, was more lenient towards Jose Mourinho who received a suspension match and therefore will miss the trip to his former team Inter Milan. The Portuguese technician had been excluded for entering the lawn against Atalanta Bergamo.
