The pillar of the XV of France Uini Atonio was once again spared during Wednesday’s training session to prepare for the Six Nations Tournament. This is also the case for Léo Coly.
The Rochelais (32 years old, 47 caps) has suffered from a meniscus pinch since the Champions Cup match won on Saturday in front of Northampton (31-13). Gathered in Capbreton (Landes) since Sunday, Fabien Galthié’s Blues are preparing for the first meeting of the 2023 Tournament and a trip to Rome on February 5 to challenge Italy.
Atonio had already been spared during training the day before, as had twelve other players, including Toulouse’s Antoine Dupont, Romain Ntamack, Julien Marchand, or French Stade flanker Sekou Macalou and Montpellier second line Paul Willemse.
Scrum-half Leo Coly, hit in the thigh, was also rested for Wednesday’s high-intensity training. Coach Fabien Galthié will announce on Friday February 3 the list of 23 players called up for the trip to Italy.
