USA: At least 10 dead from winter storms

Large parts of the United States have been battling severe winter storms in recent days. The element has already killed at least 10 people. 1.3 million customers of energy companies are without electricity.

A vast thunderstorm area, with high winds, flooding and snow, occurs in almost every region of the US. Windstorms and tornadoes damaged homes and buildings.

“The North East is facing strong winds that could cause even more power outages. Heavy snowfall is expected, up to a foot and a half in some areas across the Northeast and northern New England. Coastal flooding may occur in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, NPR reported.

In the west, where the storm hit earlier in the week, some residents in southern California’s mountainous areas could be stuck indoors for another week, according to NPR. Yosemite National Park closed after more than 4.5 meters of snow fell.
