USA: Jerusalem’s Citadel of David named one of “the most beautiful places in the world” by TIME magazine

The American weekly TIME listed a total of 50 places worth visiting around the world. in Japan, Egypt and Jordan. The Jerusalem citadel will be open to the public again in June this year after three years of conservation work.
The Jerusalem Post portal wrote that the monument, located in the center of Jerusalem, boasts a panoramic view of the entire city.
The $50 million restoration effort included the maintenance and preservation of a historic archaeological park dating back more than 2,500 years.
The Jerusalem Post points out that the renovation was not without challenges, which included preserving the integrity of historical sites dating back thousands of years.
During the works, 10 new exhibition galleries were added and a multi-level entrance pavilion was built.
The Citadel, which has been operating as a museum since 1989, was never built with access to it in mind, so two elevators were installed during the current works, thanks to which the monument will also be accessible to people with disabilities. (PAP)
