USA: Three children killed and two injured in Texas
On Friday evening in Italy, Texas, the bodies of three children were found dead. Two others were injured and taken to hospitals. The murder suspect was arrested. Sources do not say what weapon he used.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office reported the attack. The condition of the injured children is unknown.
Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Cozby did not say whether the suspect was related to or knew the victims, the New York Times reported.
“The investigation is ongoing and we will keep you informed as the situation develops. At the moment, the most important thing is prayers for the families of those involved in the case,” Cozby said.
As the sheriff’s office previously stated, “this is an isolated incident that poses no further threat to the Italian community.”
CNN reported that all five of the children attacked were siblings. They were in the care of the Child Protection Service (CPS) in Texas.
According to the Dallas Morning News, a CPS employee called the police to the house where the tragedy occurred. The Texas Department of Family and Guardianship Services (TDFPS) supported the investigation.
“We are shocked by this incomprehensible tragedy and are already working with law enforcement to investigate how and why it happened,” TDFPS representative Tiffani Butler told CNN.
Italy is a town with a population of about 2,000. inhabitants and located about 70 km south of Dallas.
