The 40-year-old defender was recalled by Portugal coach Roberto Martinez, along with Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Defender Pepe and midfielder Matheus Nunes are back in the Portugal selection, whose list of players was revealed on Friday, to face Liechtenstein and Iceland in qualifying for Euro 2024.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, leading Group J with eight points, has already validated its ticket for Euro 2024 after beating Slovakia (3-2) on October 13. The Portuguese will face Liechtenstein on November 16 in Vaduz, before welcoming Iceland on November 19 at the Alvalade stadium in Lisbon.

“Exemplary professionalism” according to Martinez

Pepe, who was not called up to play the Seleçao’s last matches due to injury, is back for the last two qualifying matches.
