In 2021, the wife of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro receives a very nice gift from Saudi Arabia. A jewelry box from the Swiss luxury brand Chopard, with a watch, a diamond necklace, earrings, a ring, all worth 3 million euros.
While Brazilian law prohibits members of the government, including the head of state, from receiving gifts, Bolsonaro tries to repatriate them to his country without notifying customs. In the Sao Paulo airport, officials discovered this very expensive gift… in the backpack of an adviser to the Minister of Mines and Energy of Brazil.
