Visit of Charles III, suspended doctor and XV of France: the information to remember this afternoon

Information not to be missed

King Charles III arrives in France. His arrival had been postponed in the midst of the movement against pension reform. Charles III will be in France on Wednesday for a three-day state visitsix months after an aborted trip, for what was to be his first trip abroad as monarch.

Despite this first missed meeting, the British king’s program 74 years old and Queen Camilla, 76 years old, has not been much modified compared to the initial one, between strong symbolic commitments and meetings with actors from French civil society.

Upon their arrival in Paris, the royal couple will be welcomed by President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte at the Arc de Triomphe, where they will rekindle the flame of the unknown soldier, before walking down the Champs-Élysées and participating in a dinner Exceptional condition at the Palace of Versailles. “It is the pinnacle in terms of official reception offered by the Republic. Few foreign heads of state have had this privilege,” comments the palace.

Charles III will also deliver a speech to parliamentarians in the Senate, during which he should speak partly in French, as last March, when he spoke in German before the Bundestag in Berlin during a trip which was to follow the one initially planned in Paris.

What to also remember

  • A doctor suspended for consulting Macron’s vaccination status. Dr Michaël Rochoy was banned from practicing for two weeks by the disciplinary chamber of the council of the Hauts-de-France Order of Physicians for “breaches of ethical obligations”. This general practitioner from Outreau (Pas-de-Calais) had consulted Emmanuel Macron’s medical file twice, in the summer of 2021. He had explained having wanted to alert on the flaws in the protection of medical data, and that he had never disseminated this information.
  • Botulism: a complaint against the restaurateur. Relatives of the deceased 32-year-old woman after consuming canned artisanal sardines in a wine bar in Bordeaux (Gironde) filed a complaint against the restaurateur for “involuntary manslaughter”. The Bordeaux floor has already opened a preliminary investigation Friday for the same charge, as well as for unintentional injury, placing on the market foodstuffs harmful to health and selling corrupted or toxic foodstuffs.
  • Composition of the XV of France. Here is the team that will be aligned by Fabien Galthié against Namibia Thursday: Ramos – Penaud, Fickou, Danty, Bielle-Biarrey – (o) Jalibert, (m) Dupont – Ollivon, Jelonch, Cros – Flament, Woki – Atonio, Mauvaka, Baille.

A climate-compatible retirement savings plan now exists. The fintech Goodvest, which has already been distributing life insurance committed to the climate since 2021, now offers a retirement savings plan (PER) in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Clearly, your savings will not be directed towards investments which contribute to global warming above 2°C by the end of the century.

“It is both a request from our customers and a need for the French who are increasingly aware, particularly with last spring’s reform, that they must prepare individually for their retirement,” explains Joseph Choueifaty, co-founder of Goodvest. Today, more than 7 million people hold a PER, a capitalization retirement system launched three years ago, for a total of more than 80 billion euros in ets.
