COUNTERPOINT - One is knowing how to do it and the other is knowing what to do. And in both cases, the method harbors pitfalls.

Retirements, end of life. Here are two reforms on which the method is one of the elements of the debate. But in reverse. On pensions, the intention of the executive is, more or less, known - to extend the working time. On the end of life, the decision is, in principle, not made. One is knowing how to do it and the other is knowing what to do.

And in both cases, the method harbors pitfalls. Although the majority almost unanimously agrees on the need to finance pensions by postponing the legal retirement age or by extending the contribution period, there is a division on the way forward: take action because it will be harder still to do it later (Emmanuel Macron) or take more time to discuss so as not to expose yourself to a blockage (François Bayrou). To take time is to expose oneself to getting bogged down, and therefore to burial in the medium term, say some; not taking your time means risking blockage, therefore a short-term burial...
