A connected thermostat for Christmas? A new measure comes into force this 1er December, istance with the purchase of a programmable thermostat. So that energy sobriety does not rhyme with discomfort, it is better to know how to regulate your heating and especially the heating hours. However, turning down the heating at night or when you are away, but also managing the temperature room by room based on lifestyle habits has a real impact on reducing a household’s energy bill.

Ademe (Environment and Energy Management Agency) thus quantified the saving at 15% on average per year, for an investment of between 650 and 1000 euros according to the government (for a connected thermostat and three or four radiator variators). The purchase and installation of the thermostat are now supported, with support which can go up to 80% for an installation carried out by a professional.

“This is an unprecedented step forward for the French as well as for the entire sector – manufacturers, distributors and installers of electricians and heating engineers – who are fully mobilized to ensure that this system is a real success!» greets Benoît Coquart, president of Ignes, an alliance of industrialists in the sector, and general manager of Legrand. Especially since in 2027 all housing will have to be equipped.

But the measure does not only make people happy. The disgruntled spirits denounce aid which will first benefit materials “made in China”, even if some are designed in France. It is up to the consumer to be vigilant about their choice.
