She invites us to “let nothing p”. The President of the National embly Yaël Braun-Pivet will file a complaint after receiving a letter bearing an anti-Semitic inscription, she announced Monday on X (ex-Twitter).
“The crows are also making their comeback… Always alert. File a complaint, systematically. To never let anything go, ever! », she wrote on the social network, in a message accompanied by a photo showing a letter addressed to her office in Vésinet (Yvelines), on which a yellow star appears.
The MP for Yvelines notably received the “support” of the Minister of Transformation and the Public Service, Stanislas Guerini. “Let us continue to fight the poison of anti-Semitic hatred,” he wrote on .
An investigation opened in 2021
This is not the first time that the President of the National embly has been the target of anti-Semitic mail. In April, she had shared on social networks the content of a letter of insults, calling her in particular a “yip”. She had already announced that she was filing a complaint. An investigation was also opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office in 2021 following a similar email which had been sent to him.
Then president of the law committee, Yaël Braun-Pivet spoke before the embly to discuss the history of her family, who came to France in the 1930s to flee Nazism. In particular, she underlined “the importance of demonstrating extremely clearly the rejection of all this hatred and racism”.
Acts of physical or verbal violence against elected officials are on the rise, with an increase of 32% in 2022, as revealed by the Ministry of the Interior in March. More than 80 parliamentarians from the majority had in particular tabled a collective complaint in June after receiving anti-Semitic, racist and phobic emails, or emails promoting Nazi ideology.
