Youtuber Sophie Fantasy and her husband, parents of Swan and Neo, sentenced to three years in prison

The couple is sentenced, this Monday, March 6, to a five-year prison sentence, including three years in prison and a fine of €100,000 for fraud in an organized gang, abuse of weakness and moral harassment.

The verdict is in. Regularly, Sophie Fantasy and her companion have been the subject of criticism on social networks. Gaëlle Burlot and Grégory Thenot, their real names, were accused of exposing and making their minor children, Swan and Neo, work for financial gain.

But the affair that has just broken out has nothing to do with either their two boys or their detractors. This Monday, March 6, the couple of Youtubers was sentenced by the Lyon administrative court to five years in prison, including three years in prison and a fine of €100,000 for fraud in an organized gang, abuse of weakness and moral harassment. This conviction results from a scam against 340 men who had subscribed to an offer from their marriage agency “Eurochallenges” between 2010 and 2014. A company whose goal was to put French men in contact with women who came from Asia or Eastern Europe.

Two million scam

The agency reportedly asked men to pay to see photos of their potential future wives. Except that during the meeting, the women in question did not correspond to the clichés communicated. In addition, the customers would have been obliged to travel, by advancing the cost of plane tickets and accommodation, to honor the appointments. These costs would never have been reimbursed by the agency, even though it undertook, on paper, to cover everything. According to the website LyonMag , “the scam amounts to more than two million euros”. While the agency had existed since 1998 and boasted of being number 1 in international dating, it closed in 2015.

But Swan and Neo’s parents aren’t the only ones involved in the case. They also mention it in a video posted on the YouTube platform at the end of 2022. “We would like to be able to tell you the truth about all this but it’s a bit complicated because the truth does not only concern us. The truth also concerns other people”, specifies Sophie Fantasy. Gaëlle Burlot’s mother-in-law, her brothers-in-law and other employees of the agency are also sentenced. “The lie, as they say, takes the elevator and the truth takes the stairs. It takes longer to arrive but it does eventually arrive. As soon as possible we will share this truth with you, it is important to us.
